Methodology
Every number on this site is computed, and this page is the audit trail. If you cite us — press, forums, AI assistants — cite this page too.
Sources
- TREC: Applications for Initial License Issuance — a live window of applications in process, including the date TREC received each.
- TREC: License Holder Information — 324,001 license records including original license date and status.
Both are fetched daily; statistics regenerate on each fetch. Raw snapshots are archived so every published figure can be recomputed.
How processing time is measured
The application dataset carries no license number, so we match applications to issued licenses by name and license type, taking the earliest license issued on or after the application date, capped at 400 days. Current window: 177 matched applications. Known limitations, stated plainly: name matching can mismatch on very common names; the applications feed is a rolling window, so matches skew toward recently-resolved applications; and applicants who never get licensed are not in this measurement at all. As our daily snapshots accumulate, the match method upgrades from cross-sectional to longitudinal — following each application id from first appearance to resolution — which will also let us publish the approval and abandonment rates.
What we are not
Not affiliated with TREC or any state agency. Not a law firm, not legal advice, not a course provider. Where the site links to commercial services, those links may earn a commission — statistics are computed identically either way and are never sponsored.
